Four People Shot at Howe Community Park Sacramento — Unlawful Gathering Results in Shooting





Saturday night, an unauthorized gathering of multiple hundreds of attendees at Howe Community Park in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade neighborhood became the scene of a shooting when 20 to 25 rounds filled the air as law enforcement officers were working to clearing the area.

How Events Unfolded

Just after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department received calls involving individuals who may have been carrying concealed weapons at the park. A follow-up call mentioned a possible altercation and people running from the area.

Aerial units was dispatched and scanned the park but could not find any physical confrontation.

However, a large crowd had gathered at the park for what officials called an unlawful gathering. Responding deputies surrounded the park, switched on their vehicle lights, and dedicated around 15 minutes commanding the crowd to clear out over loudspeakers.

As officers worked to clear the park, between 20 and 25 shots rang out — triggering a panicked crowd in every direction.

Victims of the Shooting

Four individuals — a female and three male victims, ranging in age through their 20s — were transported to area hospitals. Two were treated for immediate injuries, one victim had moderate injuries, and one was treated for minor injuries. All four were said to be in stable condition. Sacramento Metro Fire was on scene and assisted at the location.

The Crime Scene

Additional spent casings were recovered from Cottage Way, with bullet holes found in the iron fence adjacent to the Home Depot store — indicating a shooter who fired southward from along Cottage Way toward the Home Depot parking lot. Arrests and Detentions

Over scanner traffic, it was confirmed that a vehicle connected to the shooting — a Kia — was contacted in nearby Solano County with four suspects detained. SCSO deputies were traveling to collect those detained and return them to Sacramento County for questioning. Footage confirmed that two individuals fired weapons.
